Dave and I hit LMK Sunday. The condition was good in most part, except for the 1-hr foggy and windy condition. The fog lifted up, we had the nice day through morning and afternoon. The condition got better as the day went on. By time we got off water, the ocean was oily flat.

Fishing was slow. Bites were active in the early morning , but bites died off quickly. Overall I managed to land 1 ling (28"), 1 red, 5 nice Olivers and released more than I kept. Dave did something similar except no ling. The ling put a great fight.

Water temp went from 54F to 64F as time progressed. I had not seen such wide temp change in ~6 hours. Driving back was bad due to traffic jam Sunday afternoon. Fire burnt scotch was everywhere at big sur.

Launch and landing were no eventful, given the nice condition. Nice of meeting Utah folks - Ed and Allen. They have the best camping site for kayakers.

A couple of pics were taken by Allen, wait until he has access to PCs.

Thank Scott for the tips on the condition and LMK rule.

Eric -

Glad things went well and WTG on the ling.  :smt003 I caught four 23" under-lings on saturday and had fun but it was getting frustrating. Also hooked a shark or seal which peeled off 100ft in 3 seconds before breaking me off.

Probably thrasher, which was previously reported. It would be fun to catch a thrasher, as long as you be safe from kayak.

Thanks for the report.  man, you guys are slaying em down there compared to up north here in Mendocino.  How do you read water temperature?  Is your transducer mounted outside the boat?

Please... post more pictures Erick....the reports this year have been slower then last year.
We need some motivation....Looking at some of these reports make me feel like I'm looking to a porno magazine with no pictures :smt004

1) Ling 28"
2) Others have similar size of 17"-20".
3) Only one red is 19". I hoped more ...

I gutted fish at LMK creek. They looked much fatter prior to gutting.

I took the pictures of them at home. Sorry, no on-water pictures. Allan (utah boy) had a few shots taken on the beach in his camera. Got to wait ...

Hey Erik,

That is not bad at all, I love those Blacks. If weather permits I may do a last trip south. I would like to try Mill Creek and at the same time look around for potential launching spots. If you are interested please let me know.

Those might look like blacks. but they are olives.

btw, where can you catch olives, blacks and blues all at the same time? I only have had that happen one place.

the blacks seem more northerly. the olives more southerly. they don't overlap very much. the blues seems to cover the whole area at one time or another.

Mill creek is "over-rated" regard fishing. Willow creek is at the south of Mill Creek where I had better fishing experience. If I stay there for a few days, I would like to fish all of these places. LMK is the best for camping and fishing combo. I am open to one more trip in this season.
