I'm considering having two rods made for rock fishing.  If a member makes rods could someone let me know?

Erik Kunz, "Kzreelrods"  KzReelRods.com I think he's one of the "Founding farthers of NCKA"  highly respected kayak rod builder.

I thought there was somebody.  Thanks SO much.  What a great board.  I was thinking of having two rods made.  They would be five feet with telescoping into the butt, so I could fit them in my kayak easily.  I had a seven food bass rod that shortened into the but once.  I really want to be able to just stuff them in my kayak and go.  I have a fish n dive.  Thanks again.

I think it looks like he is not making any rods at this time.  Maybe someone knows other wise or knows someone else.  Thanks

I don't know Erik personally, although he answered a couple of questions for me here on this site, I do know that he has a day job and he's a family man. So his time is limited.

I don't know of anyone else here that builds rods, but others might.

Also I believe this is the weekend of the Elk tournament so most of the main players are away from their computers, look for some more responses and some great trip reports next week.

Good luck

If Eric is taking orders, his reputation on this board suggests you should contact him. If he's not accepting orders, you could try posting on either of the two main rodbuilding boards: http://www.rodbuilding.org/list.php?2 or http://www.rodguild.com/index.html to find another builder in this area. Or learn to build your own. I've been doing that for decades, but only build for self, family, and friends - just can't imagine a way to make it pay well enough to want to do it as a business. There are a number of rodbuilders in the general area, though, and you might also inquire at a place like The Rod Rack in Hayward. Good luck.

Eric Kunz makes the finest kayak rods and gaffs money can buy. For rock fishing, a custom built rod is probably not necessary although it can make the experience more fun. I build my own rods and love them but it is more of a hobby than a necessity. For rockfish, it is hard to beat the Baidarka and Trevalas for the money, IMO. As far as dollars translating into more fish caught, maps, sonar, GPS and squid are probably better investments.
