A late report, but maybe of interest to some. My son, Rich and his family, are down from Alaska for a visit and he expressed a desire to try kayak fishing while here, so... off to the Bean early Friday AM. On the water @6:30, conditions were not much different than when a group of us tried at the opening of the season (rough w/water temp 51). The tide was dropping with  swells from two different directions, but the wind was light and offshore. On the first drop Rich and Walker both connected, one underling and a smallish black. I then had a pretty hard take down that was on for a bit then gone, things seemed promising. One more hard take down that stayed on and then lost that one just before getting it close enough to see, darn! About then the wind turned with a vengeance, howling down the coast in it's usual summer pattern.  The swell was building and becoming pretty steep with more breaks appearing, had to really pay attention even a fair distance off the shore. With the wind and swell it was real and it was fun, but it was not real fun. We hung in for a couple of hours with no production after the flurry of action in the first ten minutes. The decision was made to bag it in to shore which at  this point was looking like an adventure so we secured all the gear inside the hulls and prepared to get wet. Rich who has a ton of big wave surfing experience took the lead and we threaded the needle of breaking surf (it was all but closed out across the mouth and the inside was a washing machine of chop and moving white water) and all landed on the beach upright and dry. The condition were pretty bad but it seemed like the fish were around. Might be time to watch for a flat day and hit it again.
