Anybody interested? I'm thinking of being on the water by 7AM. Does anybody know where that live bait shop is in Alameda and when they open? I went there once about 5 years ago but haven't been there since.

There is no live bait shop in alameda....MikesBait in Oalkand is the best around, he may have live= google and call him before you go...the shop opens at 7.
Good luck!

i usually get a dock scoop of cho at Bezerkly and high tale it over to the ARW. a large cooler, with simple airation or a 12v small bilge pump for circulation usually gets most of them  there alive. Hell the first 2 times i did it with just a cooler and well over 3/4 made it, and that was enough bait for 2 or 3 yakfishers for the day...

I am new to the sport but very interested in fishing for Halibut. Is this spot conducive to a newb?

I'll say yes.  It's pretty much calm in the morning then the wind starts to pickup late morning and you can paddle back to the ramp with the wind on your back.

You're right Sharky, Central does carry live shinners but they open late especially during the weekdays. Good luck!

no problem.
what is getting old is landlubbers canceling on me. rushing home. throwing gear in/on the car just in time for the wind to start.
....not a great plan, but a plan...high street bridge srtipers on the outgo...
