Hey guys,
I know a good amount of us are going to be out on the opener ab weekend of 8-1. Elk is happening too. Just wanted to say good luck to all, and remember, swim out with the spear in hand. Last time at reef campground, saw two lingcod training and did not have the spear in hand. Anyways, open for anybody at Ocean Cove Campground 8-1 to 8-4, yellow prowler 13, just yell out bloodbath and you are welcome!

Bloodbath, I'll be at Stillwater Campground this weekend (8/1-3) with my 16'-8" Yellow Cobra Triple (good for two people since I'm a big guy, but I paddle it alone too).  Dive Buddy canceled   :smt011 on me so I'm looking for some company to paddle out for some trophy abs and possibly some spearfishing.

I'll look for you Friday Night or Saturday AM for a Saturday AM harvest.

I will be day tripping to Ocean Cove on Sunday and maybe Monday.  Drive a Hunter Green Nissan Maxima with a buggered rear bumper.  I have no yak and the reports of 6-8 swell have me sticking to shore and rockpicking for abs and shore fishing unless things change.  Would love to try out my pole spear but if it hit the water this weekend it will be my first time in cold water with a wetsuit, weight belt and fins so I may wait for a better day to swim.

Wait for a better day or maybe try the protected cove at Fort Ross.  I'd also recomment a swim without the spear and without the weight belt just to get used to the wetsuit and cold water if you havn't done it before.

Stop by and say Hello on Sunday, maybe we'll hookup for some diving in the future. Usually on Sunday my Wife, Daughter and I just head for the beach at Stillwater without wetsuit or Yak.

I hear the Pick'ins going to be tuff and sloppy with all the kelp thats out there....Good Luck.

I have the swimming part down fairly well, it is the surge/swell, and visibility conditions that have me concerned.  I did swim the Ocean Cove area in the past and do some polespear fishing for some big striped perch.  Stillwater sounds cool.  My days off are Sun/Mon and I need to get some practice in for my vacation to Trinidad Bay in Sept.  Hope to have a yak in a week or too and diving/yakking Trinidad weights heavily on my mind lately.

Been vacationing up there every year for over 2 decades.
