I have my money together and am going to buy a mirage drive kayak. How do you decide which one to buy? I'm not really considering the revolution because if I want fast I would get the adventure and if I want stable I would get the outback (I'm open to hearing opposing ideas).

I am leaning toward the adventure because I think it would be better in wind and big open ocean water? The outback is tempting especially with all the deck space, 4 flush mounts and extra gear.

I am near California Canoe and Kayak and Adventure Sports. which place would be better to buy from and why. Is one more likely to negotiate than the other.

One of the guys from a local shop (Hobie dealer) told me that turbo fins put extra stress on the mirage drive unit itself and he has seen some fail as a result. He was very specific that he was talking about the unit and not the hull.

Well if you have to peddle.. I suppose.

Zealander seems pretty happy with the Adventure. He did a really nice review a couple weeks ago.

I JUST got off Lake Tahoe one and a half hours ago where my GF and I rented 2 Hobies for an hour, the Adventure and the Revolution. I did this for the sole purpose of comparing the two side by side as I too am in the market for a peddle kayak.
Let me say that for me the Outback is out because of how wide it is. I like to straddle my yaks and that is just too much for me.
I was leaning towards the Adventure all the way...until today.
What I liked about the Adv is how well it tracked and how easily it PADDLED. I also liked the 'rip cord' style rudder deployment.
What I didn't like was how much effort it took to get into the front hatch and how unstable I felt when sitting bench style on it. The center hatch is fairly high in comparison to the sides of the yak. This height made it feel a little tippy. I had a T160 for quite a while so I am no rookie when it comes to balance.
What I liked about the Revo was how easy it was to access the front hatch compared to the Adv. I also liked how the Revo seemed to turn on a dime compared to the longer Adv.
The Revo does not PADDLE as well as the Adv but it seemed that when I was paddling the Revo I could turn the kayak around as if I was spinning in my seat. I am not sure how this would fair in rough water as I feel the Adv would be better suited for that.
So here is the side by side comparison:
Trackability..advantage Adv.
Maneuverability...advantage Revo
Paddling...advantage Adv.
Front hatch accessibility...advantage Revo
Mounting space in front of the mirage drive system...advantage Adv.
Stability...advantage  Revo ( really only mattered when sitting bench style )
Rear hatch accessibility...advantage Revo
Rudder deployment..advantage Adv
Handling big water..advantage Adv ( only an assumption )
I am torn between the two. I will decide soon tho.

Thanks for the review. I bought the Adventure because I couldn't resist the long sleek fast hull. I like the huge (long) internal storage area.
