Made it out to Rodman at 5:30, two hours too early. I say that because it was too hot to fish. The sweat was constantly dripping into my eyes, I ended up paddling from shade pocket to shade pocket, and not fishing terribly hard. The heat gave a hummdinger of a headache too.
It must have been about 30 minutes before sunset when it started to cool off enough to bear being out in the open and I started throwing the frog in earnest. The place I ended up in was the same area I wacked them last time. Here, and only here was the only place I got fish. It looked good everywhere else, but no fish. I wanted to try south of the bridge, towards the main body of the lake, but not enough time.
Did I say it was hot?
The depth was only 3 feet and pure vegetation. They weren't under it, rather in it.
I broke 6 inches off a new Dobbyns rod while "high-sticking."  :smt010
All in all, worth it. The smashes were heart-stopping, and even if you missed them, throw it back and they's give you another chance.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Nice Juan I started to come up but it was too hot and too smokey

That's some serious salad in the water.
Nice you managed to pull something out of it.

Very nice fish.  Way to get 'em on the frog.  Nice pictures too.  Too bad about the new rod.
How is the morning topwater bite there?

.....after hookin one, do you pull the Yak to it? or does the line just cut its way through the vegies.
Thanks for the PICS!&port Bro!
I would love to go up there and learn how to toss the ol'frog around, but it's too dang HOT for me to even just stand & water my garden outside!!

Great pics and 'port, Juan.  It would take too much beer to get me fishing in that weather!   :smt001

Nice fish, that is crazy thick in there.  I was planning a trip up there next week and am trying to decide on Rodman or the Cache creek area to the south.  Is the veg that thick all the way out to the bridge, is it open around tule island???

Xsquid: the veg opens up towards the bridge, I was waaay in the back.
I don't thinks boats can get in from the main lake, all that is cut off by weeds.
Tule Island is nearing unapproachable by powerboat as well.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.
