Since I attached my battery to the deck of my Yak, i no longer want to turn it upside down for transport. has anybody had any trouble or even tried transporting their Yak's this way? I am driving a Ford Explorer. Also has anybody had any trouble from law enforcement simply strapping their Yak to a factory rack?

I'm not sure about all factory racks, but many are very flimsy; be carefull and use a safety lanyard.

I've never heard of anyone being stopped by the law for improper tie down although I must admit I've seen sevral that should have been.  I used to haul my 11 ft yak upside down on a Jimmy with factory rack without bow and stern lines and had no problems. However even one inch longer than that or rightside up and I'd highly recommend the bow and stern tiedowns.  I also added a bike cable thru a scpper hole and locked it to the rear trailer hitch so that in the worst case the mess would stay with me, and it was great security
