Greetings,

HAC-650 had to abort our rendezvous with Joel's sleepover party.  We ended up fishing at Pigeon Point.  The ocean was very cooperative.  However, I did end up getting seasick due to not having enough sleep(3hrs).  I kept tossing and turning because I didn't get a chance to make it to Limekiln.

Got to PP around 6:30am.  We ran into a fellow named Jerry.  He was doing a kayak trip down the coast from Oregon to San Diego.  Half Moon Bay Kayak Co. helped him along when  his kayak blew a bulkhead.  HMBKC!   He mentioned that his progress could be tracked on the SPOT homepage.

Jerry also rescued a kayak fisherman near Pescadero.  The kayaker was not wearing his PFD properly and he had his wetsuit unzipped.  The guy couldn't get back into his kayak.  If Jerry wasn't traveling through the area, the outcome would have been very different.

Back to the fishing report:
2 Black and Yellows
7 Browns

I ended up doing some surf fishing after the battle with seasickness.
Here are some pics:

Hey Mike,

How is Jerry?  Actually we were part of the group that he encountered on Sat at BH on his way down to Pigeon Point.  A report was not posted to save the newbie a NCKA thrashing.  He was adjusting his wetsuit on rough seas and got tossed.  It just so happened that we were wrestling with Cabbie about 25 yards away when Jerry called us on his radio to make sure we were aware that he went over.  Lesson learned, he won't be taking his PFD off unless he has a real good reason.  Anyway, thanks to Jerry and I hope he has a pleasant paddle down to San Diego.  He earned good karma points for this assist.

BTW, BH is not ready for prime time.  We only caught a few rockies, a couple of Cabbies and no lings.  Launch was landing was done with caution and the swell would have tested the strongest stomachs and the best drugs.

Fishing was slow.  We first searched in deeper waters but didn't find any signs of life.  I eventually found a large kelp bed which yielded the two black and yellows.

While Mike was stuck on shore he found a couple of dead fish which washed up.  A monkeyface eel, and a small cabbie.  Victims of the bunker oil spill?

We fished with whole dead anchovies.

Congrats on the fish!!!

I'm glad that a fellow NCKAer lived to fish another day!  Keep that PFD on especially in rougher water.

Jerry looked like he was ready for the next section of his journey.  He took off for Ano Nuevo bright and early.  Does anyone know his tracking ID on SPOT's website?

If someone could please email God and have him turn down the wind that would be much appreciated.

Mike
