I'm having trouble (I think) with my Cuda 250.  When it comes to depth around 100 ft. it just stops.  Everythibg stays at 100 feet.  I know Donner Lake isn't that flat on the bottom.  Also it's not locating any fish, none even thougth I'm catching them.

My unit is just 18 months old, battery is good.  I was surprised last year when I first started using this unit (my first) that 90% of the fish were at 5 ft.  This seemed very contrary to what folks tell you..

Any suggestions are very appreciated.

I'd rather not mail the unit to anybody, the transducer is epoxied inside my caper.

I'd check the depth setting, I know on my Garmin you can adjust the depth ft. increments and when i'm in deeper water than what I have the setting set at it stays at that paticular depth setting regardless how deep it is.

You can set the max depth for this model.
I have the same model, but haven't gone deeper than 100 ft yet.

go into the settings and just adjust for deeper water.

If you have any problems, I'll be glad to help

Agreed, look through menu page for auto depth.  Perhaps the setting was changed without knowledge?

Well I've spent a couple day on the water with good luck fishing but not much luvk with the Cuda.  I was set on auto depth & auto sensetivity..  It has trouble finding the bottom around 100 ft. & beyond..  The bottom goes flat. Switching to manual depth (150 ft.) does a better job finding the bottom but sort of eratic...

It still hasn't found a fish but I'm trolling & catching them.

I know there's fish there cause my trolled minnows & castmasters are working..

I keep looking around for the problem & fishing.

Any other thoughts will be appreciated..

If those settings didn't help, you might want to remove and re-set the transducer.
Mine (cuda 250) has been working great once I got it figgured out, but I have only been deeper than 125 once or twice

Yep, sounds like there is signal attenuation due to a bad epoxy job.  IMO, the pool noodle methods has less room for error, more flexibility, and there's no way you can get air bubbles trapped in the epoxy, because you don't use epoxy.

Ditto on the transducer...

I was having trouble with my Matrix 717,  would not mark fish ect ect...

removed it and the expoxy looked sad,  did the quick vasoline fix and works great.

going to switch to the pool noodle gig as soon as I find a good pool noodle,

the vasoline works great but what a mess....

I did mine using a pool noodle connector, not the noodle.  The center is a perfect size to wedge the transducer into no need to cut it to size.  All I had to do was cut it in half, goop the outside edge so no goop gets inside the noodle connector where the transducer will sit.  Then I put a bead of goop around the outside of the noodle connector like caulking a bathtub or sink.  Works good no leaks and holds the transducer in place.  Just have to remember to put water in before you launch lol.

I used one like the small one in this picture.

I agree, I bet you have a transducer issue. I bet when you pull your transducer off you'll find a nice big air pocket. I've played that game before......too many times!

Now I paddle an Ocean Kayak with the scupper transducer. It works the best!
