Haven't seen any of the other guys post about Saturday, but I it sounded like it was pretty much a bust all around.  Met a few people including Mendohead/Ernie, Kimo, Stogie, and a few other's that were out there.  Met Ernie at the small ramp launching just before me.  Got blinded by the sunscreen spray I put on my face.  Fished for a bait for a while, which was schooling by the harbor entrance, sea lions chasing them and they were breaking the surface.  Almost got mowed down a few times so I ventured further out past the yellow buoy.  Kimo met up with me on the water after hearing my hails on 69.  We drifted around for a little bit, then headed out to the mile buoy, where I stopped but he kept going out to the rock's.  Looked kinda croweded with a bunch of power boats out there, so I decided to drift for a while before some sea lions started looking at me like a play toy, or thought i was gonna feed them my bait.

Headed back twards the harbor, looking for any signs of fish, but there were none.  Drifted my chovies and a smelt I caught, but not even a nibble.  Trolled a fat Rapala for about a mile, no strikes.  Saw Stogie and his crew, chatted with him a little and did some bottom bouncing.  A huge cloud gathered in the sky, and it took me a min to realize it started raining!  Wind was kicking up, and we all headed back in, hearing a report from Kimo that he got a rock fish and was heading in also.  As I got closer to the harbor, the clap of thunder coming from the sky started to worry me.  Ernie called out on the VHF that some sailboater was about to have it out with a kayaker over the use of the launch ramp, but backed off finally.  It was that kind of day...

I haven't checked the camera yet, but will post some pics later, and I am wondering if the any video caught the sound of thunder on it.

Cheers!

Cool report, Alain.  Lots of scratch-bites and storms in the reports lately!   :smt001

Hi Al:

It was good to meet you and, too bad about the "Ragman Rage". The West Harbor is becoming quite full. A sailboat took cuts in front of
"Boggie" a Yaker and the Day went down hill from there. I was hoping they would chill but, I had to make a call to the Harbor Police and, only then did  the Sailboat leave. :smt044
I was glad I did the West trip and back before the storm hit. My only bites came from some Jack Smelt who put up a nice fight on my Sabiki rig. :smt005 The Jacks lasted all day when, I rotated the Smelt
before they died.

Hi Al,

It was nice meeting you. Wish the fishing was better though. I figured the only chance to hook anything might be out at S. Rock. It was a long paddle and I only did about 3 drifts over the reef when the wind kicked on. So I paddled in towards the Lighthouse and trolled from there to Blacks Pt. for nada. Kept one sm RF for the days effort. I think Monterey area would have been a better fishing. Im hoping to get out again this coming weekend, might try Still water.  aloha, Kimo
