Fishunter called it.  Slooow fishin'.  Too bad, 'cause conditions were kickass all morning, the wind waited to pick up until we were already headed back in, just before noon.
I bounced a fishtrap around on the bottom for three cabbies, only one of which was legal sized. Most everyone got something, I believe, just not at the level The Bean has become known for.

Kayakito, Paddlefish, Picsean, and the Sandman were also present.  GoutlessAngler and ? (I forget) showed up later in the morning.

Some pics captured today...

The bay was so glassy at the middle of the SM bridge this morning...

The Sandmans 'bout to put this Cabezon to sleep...

Sorry I had to bail on this one. Lots of fire in the state and I got sent up to Redding. ... I would have rather been not catching fish at Bean Hollow  :smt003

Perfect conditions , and  few fish. Nature has a sense of humor, I think.

Although it wasn't the epic catching day I had hoped for, I wouldn't have missed it. Conditions were excellent, all we needed were fish.
I ended up catching 2 chinas and a gopher, plus one fat starfish that made me (ever the hopeful fisherman) wonder if it was a halibut as I reeled it in. I tried swimbaits, a diamond jig, and even a couple of donated anchovies (Thanks Goutless Angler). But that was all for 5 hours of fishing.
For what was supposed to be the lightest swell day, the sets, even after the tide changed, were impressive. Timing was pretty crucial to not getting stuffed. I think everyone made it in OK though. I had to get the car back by 1:30 so Goutless Angler & his friend Marvin were still out as I drove off.

I was treated to quite a thunderstorm display over the bay while I drove home on hwy 1, with big webs of lightening & thunder peals.
