Super easy paddle from Richmond to the island, 40 min. tops. Met the fleet around a mile north of Treasure Island, about 2 mi. off the B.P. ruins.  Lumpy paddle to Brooks Island.  bait needed a trailer hook, do to it's large size. Farmed one. Many drifts in that area while Duane went around Brooks a couple times. Insane had GPS probs, so the route map will be simplified. Big loop, no fish. We launched @ 05:45, stepped on Angle @ 06:20.  The currant was so wacky heading from Treasure to brooks, we ended up racking a few extra yards/miles just keeping our noses pointed at the general target. Anyway, B.P. still has many, many Hallie's, as shown by the limits, and near limits, from my pier buddies.

As Dave was saying easy paddle to the island 45 minutes tops flat water a little wind at are backs comming
from the east made it so easy :smt007

the cureants are very fast on this side of the island about 50 yards off the shore you have to paddle
your ass off  :smt005 just to make to make land fall wow !! the currents allmost spun me around in
a circle :smt010

will defiantly do this trip again but will try fishing the west side of the island
maybe go the extra 1.75 mi too Alcatraz from there you can fish Mel's reef
and the rockpile.

So my GPS did not want to work so I just maped it out with the software
but it looks like we coverd about 20+ mi and I am felling it today :smt009

so checkout the pics

Wow, that's some yardage considering the time you guys put in fighting the tides as well. Great photos ........especially with all the back round shots.

Wow... you guys are logging in the miles for sure. I was hoping to see a picture of a 30lb. reward for your efforts. Still, looked like a great day to be on the Bay.

Duane,

You definitely live up to your name "Insane".  I have only dreamed about the paddle you just completed.  The rip currents at Point Richmond and Angel Island  can be dangerous and I once tried that trip without checking the tide and am very impressed with your skills and power to overcome the rips.  I need to get in shape to even hang out with you guys.

Thanks for taking the water shot of the "battleship".

Luis

Great pics with a sucky report! :smt013 I thought one of you guys were gonna hook a 'ButtZilla there.
I stopped by the Ferry pt. on my way back from Ft.Ross. I saw you two off the rockwall/jetty (3:30) and called you on the radio...no answer...i kicked it for about a half hr....cooling in the much wanted baybreeze...waiting for you guys to come in, but you were still hunting. That's a hell of a SkunkTrail you left behind.
I've done three of those smelly trips, from there so far.

Great job on the marathon paddle sesh.  Too bad no hookups, but love the pioneering.   :smt001

Great to see the vids too, and the photos were quality.
