Brings back so many memories...thanks for the pics.

Great snow and bowls - I would like skiing on these mountains with beautiful views of lakes.

While a lot of that terrain is either a total death trap, or stupidly steep with some ridiculous cliff out.  Some of the best skiing is visible in those pics- the two little "pimples" on the far left side house "25 short"  100 turns bowl, and a bunch of other peaks that are totally fun backcountry.  Friends tell me that just a couple weeks back folks were still skiing glory bowl (which is the big obvious bowl/peak N of teton pass)....

Note the large avalanch paths through the two biggest bowls, Death Trap is right.  We did see some heavy bc usage on the pass beteen Jackson and Idaho Falls where the powder hounds still in town for the summer tore up the fresh snow that had fallen over the last few days.  It was cool as the tracks cut through the new very white snow down to the dirty brown old melt layers to make accentuated tracks.  The Grand Tetons are very close to Jackson Hole Ski Area in case you are looking for a more conventional ski experience.  I understand that they have some of the most extreem terrain of any ski resorts.  We did have some regrets that we did not bring our cross country and telemark gear but you can only load so may toys in the van before it starts to get silly.  With camping gear, mountian bikes and kayak fishing plus were were well covered for toys.

that's Teton pass you're talking about-- that big blob of a peak to the N of the pass is glory. Usually you can see the boot track up it right at the summit.  The bowl on the jackson side is 'glory bowl' -- which is also a fairly massive avalanche path (but can be really really fun in the right conditions).

I haven't lived there for more than 10 years now, but still miss that part of the experience (i don't miss skiing home each night, or shoveling endlessly)

That's awesome, thanks for the pics.  My 11 year old and I will be heading up that way in mid and late July this year, I can't wait to spend some time up there in the boats.
