On the water at 6:30, intending to work on downrigger/grub dragging for trout in Heron Bay. Spent a frantic 30 minutes fly-heaving to some striper-looking marks at 20' in the narrows, hooked up to something that felt decent but shook off before I could verify ID. At Heron Bay, trout would sporadically take winged ants off the surface, amazing since the water temp felt 70's. Got two trout at 30' on pearl 1.5" grub doused with penguin puke (ProCure krill oil). Dinner done, went back for a few hours of futile striper chasing, out by 1PM in 90+ heat.

I knew it would be hot, so I brought a KeepCool bag from Costco (the blue Cordura one with the big zip) with two 32-oz plastic bottles of frozen water inside, all fit in my front hatch. As soon as the trout was netted, I bled it, cleaned it offshore on a stringer, and then landed to garbage bag the fish inside the KeepCool. When I took out, I still had 2/3 of the ice left in the bottles, and the fish were in great shape.

Great report Mike.  Nice to hear you had some success.

Will have to look into this so called KeepCool bag.  Sounds interesting and useful.
