I just wanted to show some of the stuff I bought this weekend at bass pro shops.  Also three weeks ago I caught a bunch of big reds and keeper lings on this megabait that I attached a big white kalins grub to.  It was the only thing I caught fish on and one of the best day's I've had.

Nice assortment,

I'm curious about what you think about the Shimano Lucanus jigs (or did you manage to find a cheaper knock off).   Looking forward to your review once you've tested them on the water.

Arn't those Shimano Lucanus jigs are expensive?  How do you like those butterfly jigs?  Are they as good as they say?  They probably get hung up a lot less but they are a pricey piece of metal.  Good score on the lead heads.  Lead heads & soft plastics are still my go to baits.  They are cheap and don't hang up as much.  When you loose one, it hurts a little less.  I know I know, I'm cheap.   :smt001

BTW, when are they opening the Bass Pro Shops in Bako?  Thanks.
Good luck and tight lines.

Surfisher,

BPS will be opening a shop in Manteca on Friday, October 3rd.  Unless you spend a lot of time in Bakersfield, I think this should be A LOT closer to you.  Might need to dig out a map to locate Manteca though. :smt003

You're right.  I grew up in Bako and my folks are still there.  Just gives me a bonus when visiting the desert.
Good luck and tight lines.

Got it!  Also makes for a good reason to get out of the house.

bsteves  they are knock off lures.  If you want some just email me and I'll get you some.  I paid between three and five dollars and they look exactly like the real ones.  I bought the lucanus jigs and considering knocking them myself if they work as well as advertised.  My good friend manufactures soft plastics worms, swimbaits, jigs, and lead heads.  I paid ten dollars for forty good hooks and made the lead heads myself.  Someone mentioned they loose a lot of jigs.  I was going to comment that I used to loose a lot of fish and jigs until I went with a single assist hook at the top.  I have lost very very few fish and lures since switching to this.  Also there easy to make with some shrink wrap and thin rope material.
