I'm not an expert, but live about 5 blocks from NB beach.

I can tell you what hasn't worked lol

Edison said when asked how he failed at so many attempts to invent the carbon filament, that he didn't fail 2000 times, he simply discovered 2000 ways that didn't work.
I will figure it out soom I hope

It is a pretty decent launch there. I have been trying the kelp beds without much luck there, but occassionally there are some SB caught around there.

I haven't reied the area for the last few weeks, but am hearing reports of bait fish finally getting to the area. Fishing should be picking up for the rockfish and halibut any time now. There have been some buts caught west of here around SC and Capitola which is a short paddle. Find the structures outside the kelp beds, which ain't easy for the rockfish.  Water is relatively shallow around the beds from 12 to 25 feet on average.

Out to the buoys is where I have heard of the most action.

Good luck. If you do any evening fishing and want some company, I can be ready and at the launch in 1/2 hour from getting home from work.

New Brighton is a great place to camp, my sister in law just visited and stayed there three days. I was out 6-13 and ran into large schools of bait fish, large anchovies, even larger sardines (8"-10") and piles of mackerel. Only one short ling and one heavy fish on for the day. Looking for it to pick up with all the bait. If nothing else catching five macks at a time is pretty fun.
