Hello All,

Went out with CoS to just south of the "Flemish Cap" MPA (Piedras Blancas), which is well sheltered from the NW swell.  Greasy calm and foggy @ 6.  Tried out the GPS, and went to promising underwater structure.  There were 6 guys in Kayaks out and a commercial guy from Morro working the area.  The Commercial guy warned us away (in a nice way for a commercial fisherman- no explitives!!).  We thought there were a couple of guys on the boat, but it turned out, he was just having several conversations with himself.  I checked to see if he was using sock puppets, but his hands were busy with the fishing gear, but i digress.....

The fishing was as SLO as I have seen it, with about 5 rockies in 5 hours.  CoS did scratch up a legal cab, and a medium kelp bass, I got a bolina.  Nobody else cuaght anything to speak of, except for a nice red by one of the kayak guys from the cambria fishing club.

Nothing but a small plate of tacos tonite!

Rustic Andy

Nice report... I'd have to say that so far, your day is par for the course. Rockfishing this season has be slow all over. On the bright side... it's only going to get better. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself.

The LK guys would disagree that it's been slow the whole season but then again that was before someone turned on the fan and churned up the water...LOL.  It looks like the wind needs to die down and the water to warm up a bit.  Given the number of recent skunks or near skunks...it can only get better.   :smt044

Tough go, Andy.  That's rough having to share your spot with a commercial guy.   :smt012

At least you got out and had some action.   :smt001
