Not sure about the best place, but I bought mine from Adventure Sports (Watt Ave, Sacramento).  Large selection, good prices and helpful.......I'm happy.

If you're looking for a Malibu or Cobra brand... then Great White Kayak Company is your bet... located in Ukiah... this is Scwafish's business...

If your question is also about which one to buy, I had the same question when I bought mine.  It all came down to the hatch cover.  I tried to remove and replace the Tarpon cover sitting on a floor and found it took 2 of us to do it where the Prowler cover is easy.  The Tarpon cover looks like it might seal better but I have had zero leakage with the Prowler in rivers, lakes and oceans.

Norcal is a lot of real estate.  In the bay area, I would recommend Outback Adventures.  I had made arrangements to pick up my yak the previous day and the guy calls me from the store saying it had a scratch on the bottom and would knock off $50.  The scratch was cosmetic and I did a whole lot worse to it my first trip.  They were also very helpful in showing me basic loading and transporting.

Either way, get one and get out there - this is too much fun!

Kayak Connection is a good place to try both the Tarpon and Prowler on the water.  I bought my T120 from them 2 yrs ago after trying out several yaks.
