Hey everybody,

Grabbed my Caper and launched by the flag pole at 9am.  The tide was way low and the water wasn't looking so pretty.  Paddled out to the big ray hole and jigged 4" anchovy fish trap on a 1/2 ounce kalin's lead head.  No hits so I made several trips back and forth, drifting across the rock wall from the very end back to the fence line.  Was in about 8ft of water and getting pretty bored when my rod goes bendo.  Set the hook and a 2.5ft leopard shark comes up going nuts.  It jumped 3xs which I couldn't believe and I'm still astonished it hit a fish trap.  After releasing that shark, I had a really good drift going along the wall and then I get hit again but the fish buttons off pretty fast and I never got to see it.  Called it a day around 1 but an alright day, esp. since I live on Ballena.  Paddled home, cracked open a beer, and bbq myself a steak.  Life is good.  Take care.   :smt006

Oh yeah, two wardens were checking everyone's boat and wrote up 3 guys for something.  I don't know what but they weren't too happy.  I don't get it, fishing legal isn't that hard.
Good luck and tight lines.

I live on Ballena.

Ok, now the launching at the flag pole part makes more sense.  :smt003

Nice goin' making a shark eat plastic.  Do you add scents/oils to the traps?

I caught a shark on iron in the middle of a anchovy spill in front of moss one time.

Maby it meens that there was alot of bait in the water.

The weird thing is that I didn't use scents at all.  I think I just dropped it right in front of him and agitated the heck out of that shark.  I didn't notice any bait at all in the water and most of the fishing was pretty damn slow for the rest of the boats.  Though, I took a paddle through Ballena Harbor or Ballena bay or whatever you want to call it and there was a lot of small bait fish around.  There were a few terns and egrets going nuts.  Was hoping to see some striper action in there but no luck.
Good luck and tight lines.
