Took the girlfriend out to do some kayak fishing on Jenkinson Lake this weekend.
It was windy out and she had a blast.
We started out trolling Cast-masters and assorted spoons with several hits but nothing landed.
By the end of the day we had one smaller rainbow caught and released.
After reading a few posts about kayak trolling like this, It seems we should not have stopped paddling after a good strike, and just let the troll speed set the hook.
Next time I think we will get up a little earlier as well.
No macks or browns heard of or seen landed.  Lots of rainbows to 2lbs around.
Hopefully my next post will have fish pics :D

This was posted on the Fish Sniffer:

"Smallmouth on the bite @ Jenkinson. They are spawning and fairly easy to catch. From the bank I was throwing 1/32 oz. white crappie jigs. Caught fish from the main docks all the way down to the far end of the dam. Was casting to 5 to 8 feet of water at any rock pile, boulder or tree stump. Let the jig fall to the bottom and twitch it back. The water is clear so I was able to see most strikes."

Might head up Saturday.

Nice report Tino.  Beautiful lake, where is Jenkinson?

Don't worry about the fish, they'll come! :smt002

Jenkinson, AKA Sly Park Lake, has a very good SMB population.
CHUB and a friend fished it yesterday with 10 fish between the two of them for a few hours on the lake. Five SMB flyfishing, 2 trout flyfishing, and 3 SMB on a green worm.
When the SMB bite is on it is ON. Don't wait if you want to fish this lake as it turns off almost as soon as it turns on.
The cost is $10 to enter PLUS $3 for each kayak so be prepared. :smt011
With the cooler weather it should keep most skiers off the water. As soon as it warms up it is a madhouse.

Great report, Tino - welcome to the board.  Fish pics are good, but girlfriend pics will always suffice if you don't have a fish to show!   :smt002
