Does anybody knows a local store here in the bay area that sells Fish Finders ? I'm looking for a cheap one.
Cuda 168, 242 or Piranha 210.

I would guess Boaters World or West Marine would have them. I am not sure about FisherMan's warehouse, I only see the expensive ones on display. Of course if you go to FW to get a cheap FF you will end up spending even more $$ on gear! :-)

Be sure of what you want first.
I went into a local store in SC to purchase one and the salesperson almost wouldn't sell me the lower priced ones. She said " the lower wattage ones like the Cuda 168 will not work in salt water, that you must have a more powerful one."
I explained that there are dozens of people that do in fact have the cheaper ones and they work fine as far as I know.

she immediately got an attitude and kept pushing the $400 ff to me, telling me that I was mistaken.
I may be wrong, but I have seen a lot of the less expensive models out there on the water.

I left that store and will probably not go back again.
I finally found what I wanted and picked up a Cuda 250 (ff and Gps) for around $200.00.

Good luck and do your homework first

I've gotten all my FF's at walmart.  I get low end ones without GPS because kayak FFs have a much shorter life expectancy than powerboat FFs.

For more expensive models I'd buy online.  Better to pay ups $8 than california $20 in sales tax any day.

Hi Promethean
Wall mart does have the Cuda 168 but they don't have them in stock right now.  I know on line they are cheaper
and easier to find but if I buy one on line my wife will start triping about it :smt003 I have spent about $900 on fishing gear
in the last two months so I have to do this under the water, just like fishing...you know ! :smt003

I just picked up the Cuda 242 for 79 dollars at WalMart.  West Marine has the Cuda 245 for 99 dollars.

Josh don't you declare your on line purchases when you file your State income taxes? :smt077
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Very good knowledge there Mike.  I had no idea about it and asked my wife who is a CPA, and sure enough, she confirmed what you already knew.  It totally makes sense but seems rather obscure.
