I'm looking into some sea kayaking instructions for my son and I and was hoping to get feedback on the schools that I've come up with:

# Eskape Sea Kayaking (Santa Cruz)
# MBK (Monterey)

Although there are quite a few choices out there, I've narrowed it down to the above unless somebody has better recomendations...

If you want private lessons in Half Moon Bay, PM me. I know a very good instructor that actually caters to sit-on-top kayakers :smt045

I'd also consider Great White Kayak Company.  Sean has a Saltwater class coming up on July 12th and 13th.

I participated in his freshwater class back in May and it was FABULOUS.  The only reason I am not enrolled in his saltwater class is that the family already had vacation plans. :smt010

If you strictly a paddler and not an angler, it may not be the class for you as day 2 includes fishing.  Otherwise, give him serious consideration.  It is a long haul from the South Bat but DEFINITELY worth it in my estimation.  He's got a ton of experience.

By the way, he is currently out of the country on a fishing excursion so if he doesn't get right back to you, you'll know why. :smt003

Hey Neemo,

If you want to build some confidence for beach launches and landings consider taking a kayak surfing class. There are lots of places to learn but I would recommend half moon bay kayak co. from personal experience.
