Last year, I posted up a request for some help making some owl nesting boxes. At that time, I got a couple offers from folks who said that they would make a couple for me. However, that post faded and no boxes were made that I know of.

I would like to renew that request. On June 21, we have about 20 4H kids coming to camp on the property for a week as part of their environment education. It would be great if we could have some of the boxes for them to put up. We could have them put up some wood duck boxes also if someone has a couple they would like to donate.

You can find the directions for making the owl boxes at http://www.cooncampsprings.com/Owl_boxes.html

I am leaving tomorrow for a couple weeks in Germany. I probably won't be online much so if you would like to help out and have any questions I will be back home on the 15th.

Thanks in advance, Dave aka BigDog

Dave, I have a lot of rabbett bevel redwood siding scrap from a job I just finished.  It could be used in lieu of the plywood.  The instructions for this owl box are kind of meticulous, maybe a bit overboard.  I can think of a few easier ways to do these things but being that it is summertime my work has me super busy.  Let me know when you return if you'd like some of the scrap redwood siding I have.  John

Hi John, Gutten Tag from Germany. Yes, I would like to get some of that siding. Supposedly, Redwood is best for both the owl boxes. I think I saw a reccommendation for it when making wood duck boxes also. I have been so busy on the major parts of the project that I have yet to take the time out to make a box. I think I will when I get back. I return in the afternoon of the 15th. Maybe I can pick the wood up from you Monday or Tuesday. I am headed up to the property as soon as possible on Friday. I have to get the camp ready (and kid proofed) as much as possible before they get there on Saturday.
Thanks for the offer. I will get in touch on Monday.
