Lake Benoist

Has anyone kayak fished at this lake in Healdsburg? Heard it could be good for steelhead.

I took my paddleboard there for its “maiden voyage”
Saw a post saying they dumped a bunch of post-spawn steelhead in there today.
Go get em!

Looking at the website,  I don't see any mention of the launch.
Is this just portage and bank launch?

From the satellite views it looks like a bank launch with parking a bit away. Apparently the lake was mobbed with shore, kayakers shortly after the steelhead plant yesterday. It was reported that the water was super muddy.

I’ve seen this in Oregon. ODFW will stock post-spawn steelhead in accessible park lakes to enhance fishing opportunities.
I figure lake Benoist made sense to them given its proximity to the hatchery.

There are already some holdover steelhead in there from the river breaching those lakes during flood events. Some folks on here have caught some over the years. Powerful, pretty looking fish.
