Pleasure point 5/25-5/26

It looks like the wind and swell will lay down a little this Sunday & Monday. I am most likely going to launch out of the harbor at 7am+-. Bayside says there is live bait available at S dock. I have the bait tank on and will probably buy some bait if its any quality. Could split a scoop if we plan arrival times. I am considering to go directly to Pleasure Point and slow troll. The paddle back may get a little tough (into the wind) but should be ok as long as you stay tight to the coast. This just means you can keep a bait in the water a little longer. 

trying to figure out the what/where/when of this weekend, Watsonville Fly In, changing weather, raging wildfires, kids schedules ETC but will definitely keep the halibut hunt in mind.

I was thinking of the fly in too. Not sure if they will go through with it due to the fire. There is another post about Davenport for Monday. If the weather lays down it may be worth going up there for halis. After last weeks beating I was thinking a nice easy paddle would do me good, so I will do Pleasure Point Sunday for sure. I think I can cary enough bait for two.

I did some looking around the harbor today. Very few boats out. A few rockfish are starting to show in the cleaning stations. There was little if any swell at 1pm and just a light breeze. I checked out the live bait situation. Its all anchovies and they are good sized, not pinheads. I am going to launch at 6am and pick up a half scoop. The last reports I heard were there were some good sized halis above Light House Point to Mitchel's Cove. I think I will head up that way and make a few drifts with live bait. If that doesn't pan out I will slow troll with the wind at my back along the coast and if time permits hit Pleasure point. The weather is great right now no wind! at 6pm. 

Going out with my 13 year old, and he wants a shot at wide open blues, so think we will head down towards Stillwater.  If we have any energy left Monday, maybe stay local.  Knock em dead guys!
