I know this is Tote's place but I'm taking the family and some other friends with kids out there for the weekend and wanted a little recon or the potential hot spots.  Across the dam?  Trout preferred but smallies if nothing is taking.  Heck if nothing then I'd take even the blue gill.  I'm actually taking the little ones out on the yak for their first yak fishing trip.  I just want the kids to catch something since I'll catch a buzz later if it's one of those days.  I'll be packing homebrew for the trip.  :beer3

I expect Tote to chime in...... hint hint.

This lake sucks. Don't waste your time.
I paddled for hours for nada. Two float tubers who launched and returned at the same time I did got not one bite.
and it gets better

Very pretty before the PB's get there.
I have put a lot of hours on this lake for barely scratch. It used to be you could park near the dam and walk your yak down. Now it is fenced in so you are forced to pay. For $13 to enter with one kayak they better start putting some quality fish in there. Since they won't I am done.

Thanks Mick-
I do remember that post and what a bummer to hear that. :smt012  I know Tote has tried and tried, I just want to have some hope.  Maybe that all that it'll be is hope.  Heck maybe I'll paddle around drink some tastey cold suds and then bank fish with the kids.  We'll see thanks for popping my bubble.   :smt002

OB here is a report from the Press 5/5
Quote
JENKINSON LAKE (Sly Park)--Decent rainbow action before, and better after the recent DFG fish plant. Rainbows and some smallmouth reported, as well as a couple nice browns. Jeff Cole at Sly Park Resort said local fishermen, Jim the painter, caught a 21-inch, 2-pound, 13-ounce brown, top-lining a FlatFish back in Narrows. Then he backed that fish up with another 22 1/2-inch brown that weighed in at 5 pounds.

There is some good news. The small mouth bite is doing OK. Last week a guy got 10 SMB fly fishing. One was 20''. His buddy went out the next day and scratched 3 for 2 hours in a float tube.
If and when they plant trout it is either at the boat dock right when you enter to the right or the one in the very back. They do not plant anywhere near either dam although fish are caught there all the time. The second dam seems to produce better.
I cannot say whether one place is better than another to fish. CHUB got his first solo fish ever right off the dock. ( That was a LONG time ago ).
Plan on paying $10 to get in and another $3 for each kayak.
I have a couple of hours to kill this Saturday and was thinking of heading there. If I do I will give you the low down. I guess I am a glutton for punishment.

Tote-
See....there's hope in those eyes.  :smt007

We're actually camping next weekend down at the far end and hopefully the kayak price is "included" while camping,  But since everyone needs their sheckels it's probably going to cost something.

Hopefully it's not $3 per day per boat. :smt011  I'm packing 4 boats.  Ouch!

What's your experience?  Back a few years we took one in for zilch for the weekend.

$3 per kayak. It would cost me $13 to go for the day. For $13 in gas I can go to Union Valley and the launch there is free. A little extra time but the cost is about the same for a much nicer lake.
