Love the Staghorn sculpin in the hawg trough pic!

my little story on those guys-
when I was around 12 my dad & I would pier fish down in SoCal. We would often catch little staghorns. One day my dad used one as live bait & caught a monster barred sand bass of about 4-5 pounds & fought it for a few minutes. After netting it & getting it up on the pier we found that the fish had never been on the actual hook, instead it had been stuck on the staghorns sharp little "antler". We tossed the sculpin back in the water & off he swam.
The sand bass ended up on the dinner table.

nice one Sean!   did you ever try that again?
...old timers story~ they would use the same one over and over..."don't cut the horns off!, they will stick them out when they're in the Stripers' mouth, resuling in a NON-SWALLOW, then just reach in there and retrieve it for another toss out!"...sure sounds fun.....maybe back when there would be two fish schools, instead of the rogue schoolers these days.
