YRCA's - Yelloweye Rockfish Conservation Areas - that were to have shut down some prime territory along the Mendocino coast, would've destroyed Shelter Cove, would've taken away Crescent City's best and affected some other rockfishing areas are not going to be imposed this year.  This is news that I just read on Humboldt Tuna Club from someone who attended the YRCA meeting with DFG today in Ukiah.

Thanks for the heads up! So I guess may 1st shelter cove will be open for rockfish. Was there any additional info as to why they decided not to impose the closure?

So that is good for you, correct Eric?  Sorry, I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes.

I guess I expected your post to contain a little more joy and glee.  Maybe you're just holding off until it's verified.

Its official...no YRCA's  The RFA filed a clain against DFG for not following the rules and they got tossed.  woohoo!  See fishing politics for the rest of the story.

That's great news. A friend of mine was at Shelter Cove this weekend and said there were some real unhappy people at a meeting up there, then they were all headed to Ukiah for a meeting here. I guess it helped.

CHEERS!
