Anybody have any info on this tiny little lake?  I know that it is in Ed Levin County Park east of Milpitas, but in terms of fish, does it have anything other than trout & kitties?  It sounds like they stock it in the winter & spring with trout and then in the summer and fall with catfish.  Does the lake have any bass or should I leave that gear at home.

A buddy and I are looking to wet a line or two Saturday morning as we hold down some picnic tables for a first birthday party that is to start at 11:30.

Also, would it be worthwhile to take the yak or would I look ridiculous?  From the pictures I've seen, it looks small but just how small is my question.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Michael

There's actually two bodies of water in the Ed Levin park complex.

I used to live in the vicinity off of old calaveras road.  Sandy Wool is a tiny mudhole.  with a running start, you could prolly cast a 3oz sinker across the widest part on a surfrod.

Forgo the yak unless you want to take it for the novelty purposes.  The place is so small I can't see the benefit of bringing a yak as opposed to banking it.  Also might wanna check the regs for launching/contact.  I don't recall the restrictions.

Unless your 100% sure they stocked, I'd leave my expectations at home b/c you don't want to load for bear and bust.  But then again, there's absolutely no harm in spiking a baited pole in a rod holder, and praying for rain.

If your super antsy to do something active in the area, consider bringing your clubs and hit the public range just 1/8 mile up the road.

Thanks Martin.  Yeah, my buddy made the final call and decided we're gonna be going from shore.  Sounds like you two are on the same page.

I'm definitely not the cast out and wait type of fisherman so bait dunking isn't appealing to me.  I suppose I can cast some small lures for some planters but I was really hoping to hone my bass techniques.  Guess I bring a little of each.

Most assuredly I'm going to wet a line and don't have any expectations.  Anything that strikes is just icing on the cake.

Thanks again Martin.
