Made it on to the water about 6:00 yesterday PM. There was a cold breeze blowing. Bad enough that by about 7:30 I was more than stinkin' happy to get out of there. At least the water's up to near full. There wasn't a bass to be seen in their former bedding areas, and even the trout anglers seemed to be having a pretty slow time of it.

Brrrrr... I'm still cold. That'll teach me to wear shorts when the the wind chill is in the 40's.

Bravely done, but me thinks Freddie's the only one who can pull that off! Sturgeon fishing in the bay, sitting still for hours. Makes me cold just thinking about it.

cold breeze blowing the wind chill in the 40's.

Sounds like you're in training for Humboldt.   :smt002

Too bad about the blown trip.  Makes for a great feeling when you do get back in the vehicle after an exposure like that.   :smt001

Hey Scott,

I got to SCR at 6:30pm on 4/8 and chucked a gulp minnow behind a bubble and caught 5 trout off the dam.  I won a dinner from my buddy Steve.  He only got two.  Steve had a nice bass hit his trout so they are out there.

I seen guys hucking huge swimbaits for the bass.

I was trolling across the dam area couple weekend back and something big hit me and tangled my lines. I think it was a bass sticking a trout that was hooked.

What about a big suspending rogue in rainbow trout?

Dave,

I like Steve's bubble/gulp setup. I chatted with him on the dam one evening about two weeks ago, and got to see it in action. Good for you to out fish him.

John,

I was actually tossing an 8" reaction swimbait for a while, at least until it sailed off into the brush on a cast. I kind of knew that 15 lb test was on the light side, but didn't think I'd have an issue with snags. I did retrieve the bait though. I wasn't going to lose a $10 bait...   I talked to Joel yesterday, and he told me I was on the wrong side of the lake. I'll get out there again next week most likely, assuming that the weather cooperates.

What's a bubble? A clear bobber?
