myself and about 10 friends spent 5 days camping at ocean cove campground. somewhere between all the fried food and the 12yrold rum i did manage to get on the water a few times. we abdove twice. once from boogieboards and once from the kayaks. nothing really big. the largest was just over nine inches. Abdvr(lyle) and i set 3 crabpots for two overnight soaks for one dungie and several rockcrabs. Saturday was the highlight. Dennis Spike showed up at camp. Although we didnt fish, we had a good time sitting around the fire nippin, tippin and sippin the rum. he is a good storyteller with a great sense of humor. he came across as a real solid dude. Later that night, Paul Wood (guitar player for john lee hooker) and his harmonica player (mark schowalter) put on a hell of a blues show at our campfire.

Camping by ocean, sipping good rum around the campfire, invoking the ghost and haunting music of John Lee - must have been a touch surreal. Thanks for the report KJ.

KayakJack,

A very enviable outing!  Say; what kind of collapsible crab pots are those?  They look nice and sturdy.  I've been using crab rings, but it would be nice to get some pots for the kayak that could soak overnight.  -Matt

i bought those crabpots at outdoor pro shop in ronhert park for $30ea. they are pretty sturdy. i think scwafish(great white kayak co.) sells some that are better.
