well, had like 40 minutes after work..so walked out to the red rip rap under the stacks...tossed a swimbait...3rd cast 15"er or so.  about 6 casts later another little smaller.  walked further down (see below on why), and managed to lose my only swimbait to a fish that felt like another schoolie.

If y'all know marin- you know that every spring the mats of algae break loose and cloud the water and make it impossible to troll or cast for a few weeks - that has started. The mats were breaking loose in the shallows of the chapel cove, and drifting across the rip rap....get there soon or it'll be july before it clears up again

Cap'n Matt--
i did fish the islands two weekends back, blanked there. Buddy fished there last week and got a nice one (saw it feeding and pitched to it). That rip-rap has been pretty good of late.

Update: I went out yesterday AM - perfect tide- and NADA.  think the cold cold mornings we've had lately have put the fish off the bite.

Guitarzan--
its off san pedro Rd-past Loch Lomond marina,  you can see the old stacks- both the rip rap along the road and the part that heads E are or were holding fish. Launch is at the China camp side of the rip rap- right at the end. NOT a low tide launch.

I work right next to civic center- so smith ranch is a backyard!  let me know if you're doing anything there lately...
