I planned a family camping trip to clear lake for the weekend. I was taking my son, daughters and wife. I needed to take my Tarpon 130, Search 15 and Cobra Triple. Two kayaks fit in the bed and I have a camper shell. Three kayaks doesn't work with the current set up. I went and bought the bolton raingutter sections and mounted them on my campershell.

I had two days till the trip and didn't have a roof rack. I was expecting to have to go to a rack place and spend over 400 dollars. I posted on here and asked if anyone had a used rack system for sale. A guy named Jason that lurks on here but hasn't posted, sent me an email saying he had the entire set up and I could have it for free. I told him I was leaving the next day and he met me in the morning and hooked me up.

I went home mounted the rack, threw the triple on the roof and we were gone. The entire family had a blast and my son caught his first bass from a kayak. Thanks Jason I'll be buying you a nice dinner when we hook up and go fishing.

I actually had the same exact rack system on my old truck. When I got rid of that truck I gave the rack system to someone just to be nice. I ended up needing one a few years later and shazzam!
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

That is really cool!  Major kudos to Jason for helping somebody he didn't even know - truly the spirit of NCKA! :smt008   Way to go!  Time to make that first post and accept the accolades.

Hey, what comes around, comes back! You gave up your old rack, and well, you got it back!  Glad it all worked out!  I'm sure that was a proud moment for you watching your son land that bass!

Amphibian:

I am glad that you were able to use the racks!!

I have been a lurker for quite some time.  My schedule hasn't been too friendly for the last few months to do any fishing at all so reading on this site has been my only outlet . In fact, this weekend was the first time I've taken my new kayak out with a fishing pole since I got it in December.   I previously fished solo out of a tandem for the last few years.  Now I have a T140 and it is a big improvement.

My schedule is much improved and I look forward to meeting more of you.

Thanks,

Jason

:smt006 Hi Jason and Welcome.  You sure have a good introduction on this thread!  You're definitely NCKA material and hope to see more of your posts.

I'm in the Mendocino/Fort Bragg area if you're ever in our neck of the woods.  There is a big weekend of Ab diving, spearfishing, and kayak and rock fishing coming up mid April at Van Damme:
