Hello there, 2 newbs here.  Let's say that you are fishing at Clear Lake for lunker bass around boat docks.  How would you position your kayak so that you would not get pulled into/around/under the dock pilings by a big fish?  Would you position yourself sideways to the shoreline?  45 degree angle to docks?  Perpendicular to shore?  Set the hook, paddle to shore, and get out to fight the fish  :smt002?  We are curious.  Thanks!

Hey Yakdogs, welcome to NCKA. I wouldn't worry too much about being pulled into anything since you'll be going very slow. I've been hooked up w/ a 25 Lb. salmon and only hit around 2.5 MPH. It'd take a long time to be pulled into anything and during that time you could easily avert any trouble. I'd be more worried about that bass getting your line wrapped around a piling. I think in that situation you should concentrate on playing the fish first.
