I just got the Reynolds Handi Vac last night.  I did not want to have to drag out my other sealer to do 3 bags of trout.

Unit is the size of a household flashlight and it comes with 6 AA batteries inside the unit ($10 at Safeway).  Bags are $4 (don't remember how many you get in a box).  They have 1 gallon and Quart sizes.

Worked pretty well.  I will pull them out of the freeze in a week to see if they start leaking.  That will be the true test.

Even the stuff I we done at Willow Glen Meats or Los Gatos Meats will have leaker's.  So, it is good to check.  Usually, after a few days in the freezer.  I will check.  You can reseal (if you got a reg vac sealer) or decide to eat it for lunch or dinner.

With the vac packer I have I've started to put a double seal on each end.  After the bag has been sucked out, and the seal happens, I move the bag out 1/4" or so, and seal it again.  Doing this had kept the vacuum in the bag for long periods.

Man, for $10 it sure seems like it's worth having one of these.  I like the idea of being able to vacuum pac fish while camping.

I had 2 of the 3 bags start leaking in the freezer.  Leaking is where air starts leaking back into the the bag.  For $10 and $20 with the bags.  It was worth a shot.  I don't think I will recommend this product.

But for Eric B.  It may work out camping and when he get home to reseal with a good sealer.
