Me and the Mrs got on the water by 9.30, water fairly calm, drifted anchovie popsicles in front of the pier. There were plenty of boats out, and plenty of folks on the pier, but I heard of no fish today.

Around noon I suffered another episode of Fishing Brain. Having stared at my bouncing rod tip for ~2.5h, I suddenly realised I was very cold. I was very cold because, out of nowhere, it was very windy. We had been drifting for a very long time, and Fishing Brain had not been paying much attention to where we were drifting. The shore was a VERY long way away. It took us 2h to paddle back in over the whitecaps against the wind. We carried M'Ladys Scrambler up to the car. I went back for mine and.......Fishing Brain talked me into going out for just one more drift. Of course I got nowhere and packed it in at 3. Learned another lesson today!

Good luck to the Monday livebait shift. The OP Bait shop had only a couple of weary looking bullheads and some grass shrimp, so you'll probably have to make your own.

Thanks for the report...I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one to suffer from that dreaded malady, "Fishing Brain"!  :smt005

I heard a few flatties came in this last week, in that general vicinity, but am a hard guy to convince! Thanks for reafirming my descision to stick to freshwater this weekend!
The wind was bad enough on the lake! I can imagine what a workout you got! :smt010

Way to give it a try, NB.  Also kudos for getting the lady out on the water - she even let you do another drift!  You've got something special there, pal!   :smt002

Sometimes you can beat the bridge traffic to the east bay.

OP is a tricky place to fish. Not only is it hard to find the spots where the fish hang out, that wind can come outta no where, whip up some waves, and can chuck you across the bay.

If the wind comes up again while you're out there, head directly towards shore first. Then go parallel w/ the shore back to your launch. The waves near the shore are smaller on the west side of the bay so it'll be easier to paddle back.

P.S. Always check the wind report before fishing OP.
