When I place last in the 08 AOTY we can chalk it up to weekends spent like this one :smt001   Report is a bit old so this is all about entertainment value.

Spent this past weekend at Dodge Ridge.  Me and the woman caravaned up with Hippie Mike and his chemistry lab partner....Vishnu

Vishnu is has lived his entire life sheltered away in India and is completely amazed by everything we do here.  Dude is more stoked to experience the little stuff we do everyday than anyone I've ever seen. He's trying his damndest to live the lifestyle now and we aim to help. (He's named after his father making the first actual Son of a Vish I've ever met)

Hippie Mike forgot his socks so he had to borrow a pair from my chick so his boots wouldn't chaffe.

She loves her Santa Cruz blade so much she took it to her nail apt. to make sure the colors match.

Top of the bunny bunny slope

Off she went

Then ran me over

Vishnu....attempt #1

He continued to fall down the hill for a couple hours but he was a trooper

and Mikey never left his side.

About noon it all came together....and the senorita spectators gazed as he buttered the slope like a pro

We had enough of the bunny bunny slope so we slipped him a couple of these

and went to the bunny slope.

I went ahead so I could get a good shot of him getting off the lift, I set up and see them coming but only mike is in the shot. ( Vishnu bailed straight off the the side as soon as he got to the top)

But that didn't stop me from documenting his exit (A650 continuos shot mode kicks )

Mikey was not immune to it....he says Vishnu bumped him when he jumped off.....rigggghhhhhttt.

But the rest of the runs were smooth

So we went up to here.  Looks nice but it was icy and greasy fast.  Hard to keep an edge and I ate it twice while I was hauling ***, I wish someone would got a shot of that =)

At the end of the day son of a vish was walking around shirtless and I tagged him with a snowball. He let out a yell of Mooch proportions causing an old couple to give us dirty looks and a little girl to cling to her parents.

Thanks for the definite entertainment value, Art.  Our 20 yr old son snowboards, but he never gives us reports like that.  So Thanks.  But I kept looking for some cute little snow bunnies in all of your pictures.  :smt002

*laugh*

I never could 'board on a bunny slope...you really need some speed to hold the edge well or you just waffle too much.  I always taught people on Blues.

You should have been riding your toe-edge, holding hands with 'em while they were on their heel-edges.  Once they get the feel, you can swap positions, or ditch 'em solo, but having the extra stability while they're learning is HUGE.  Usually takes a person 1 hour to get a basic feel if you're there with 'em.  If not...it's a long long cold butt-sitting fiasco... they're never up long enough to get any kind of a feel for it. :smt009

List of "worst part about snowboarding:"
*long flag ski runs where you have get off and walk   :smt013
*catching your edge, and the 0.1 seconds of lucidity; pure "OMG-here-it-comes-and-I-can't-stop-it" before you crash (hard, whiplash style into the ice)
*long lines where you have to get off and walk  :smt013

I don't know if I could ever go back to skiing .....  :smt003

Nice report...thanks!

-Mike

great report. I always love wipe out shots whether the waters frozen or not.

By the way Mikeys bro probably wasn't named after his father. Vishnu is a Hindu god in the pantheon of Brahma and Krishna. Most likely given for religious devotion.

That was awesome!! I need laughs like that every morning when I get to work.

I'm glad your girl likes her SC board so much. That's what we like to hear  :smt004

Thanks for sharing.

You should have been riding your toe-edge, holding hands with 'em while they were on their heel-edges.

There was plenty of hand holding going down but mike abandoned his peaceful hippie disposition and threatened to smash my camera if I snapped any pics.......I did anyway but since I suck at photography the shots did not look like the "my buddy and me" shots I was expecting.

I like to let people give it a shot on their own for a bit, getting your @ss handed to you on your own encourages people to follow the advice you give them and makes for good pics  :smt001
