I got home today and retrieved my little DR from my boat and grabbed my flush mount and  And with some duct tape positioned the DR on the flush mount and checked elbow clearance.  I moved it as far forward as I could befor my elbow hit the reel, then slid it back about 1/4" and marked the tray.  Got dark and I got hungry, so I'll continue tomorrow.
I should be able to lift the DR and swing it in easily and operate the reel as well from where it's going.  Pretty much where Z thought it would go. (almost directly across from the rudder lift handle)Just a little bit back from the thick part of the hull area seperating the seat area from the bed.
I'll get pictures up of it when done.

This morning I finished the DR install.  If the Scotty mount was any further back I would not have been able to reach inside to install the washers and nuts!  As it was, was, it was super strech for me to get the hardware on.  Basically had to stick the flat washer and nut to finger and ever so carefully place, by feel, the washer and nuts in place and turn the screw from outsidr to attach the nut!

DR ready for deployment.

DR stowed.
After loosing one DR to the depths of Lexington already, I vowed to never again loose one over the side. pic below shows the DR leash.  (Once mounted, the leash will have to be removed.)

Troy, is that the a Hobie seat?  If so, me likey.

Also, just curious as to why you didn't go with the flush mount?  Would it have not fit?

I must say, mighty fine looking rig there if you ask me. :smt007

No its the GTS sport.  I can't sit in my stock 04' Hobie seat!  It kills my lower back at the hips!   I didn't have the flush mount 1, and 2, I didn't want a huge open hole from the mount in the hull.  I'm really curious how well the DR is going to work from the kayak.  I know once my lure gets down, to what ever depth I set it at, I will be bringing home some dinner fish!  My question is, will I be able to do it gracefully?  I recall it took a few times using the DR on my alum boat, before I became comfortable using it.  Hopefully learning curve won't be too long.

I've used mine a hand full of times thus far but never hooked anything while using it.  I finished the rigging of my Adventure in the fall and haven't really needed to go deep yet as most fish are right on top now.

I'm still learning the graceful thing too.  Mine is in front of the drive so I have to lean forward to deploy.  By the time summer rolls around, I hope to have it all dialed in.

I know you've talked about it, but I forget, did you say you're going to leave the cable on or switch it out.  Just curious if it really makes a difference with the fish.  I know that I hated the noise and just assumed the fish did too.

While the DR was on my 12' alum boat, and deployed (on the loch) the cable sang!  (Resonated rather loudly) I assumed the noise it was amplified at the mount on the boats side, seemed the faster I trolled the higher in pitch and louder the singing cable got.  (Slower was less noise) If it happens to sing while on my OB, then yes I'll probably get some heavy braided line and try swapping it out.
I'll find out tomorrow!  Everything is staged out back, just have to load yak in truck and secure it for the night.  Camera battery is charged, VHF charged, and FF battery is on charge now!
