How did you get a loop on the end without obvious knots?

I had the same question but was too afraid to ask.  Do you have mad knot tying skills? :smt004   Or is it purchased that way?

I must be a doo-fus because I can't find anything about anchor installation, let alone knots.  I thought I was pretty thorough however I didn't search the forum all that well.

Higher up in this thread it's discussed that a closed loop can be mended into hollow poly line using a fid, which actually comes with most 50 or 100 foot bags of poly...  Google "fid + splice"... it's also extremely easy to splice extremely clean end loops into three strand nylon anchor lines using a fid... way stronger than knots, and a much cleaner look... I can splice loops into both ends of an anchor line in about 10 minutes... happy to show anyone who asks next time you run into me...

Yup, your absolutely right.  I should have taken the time to look more carefully.  And that link from KayakBuilder was terrific.  Step-by-step blow on how to do it.  Thanks.

Sampson Rope Company has a listing of all kinds of splicing including 3 strand eyes and 3 strap to anchor chain.

Decent rope site.

Long ago, a friend had spliced some rope together for some crab nets he just bought.  Did it wrong and lost the nets.  His splice came apart.
I fiddled around with some braided nylon rope and was able to make eyelets  a knotted end (don't recall the proper term for it)
I think for the rope Mooch used, he simply choose a location down from the end of the rope and opened the rope up and slipped the end into the opening.  I believe you need to shove the end in quite a bit so it remains and the loop doesn't open.
Running some fish line through the spliced end will prevent it from comming back out!
