Doesn't hurt that a couple of the Promar guys are yakfishers and all around stand up guys.

Mooch et al.,

I noticed you had a small piece of rope in lieu of the medium split ring attached to the center of the colapsing area. Can you elaborate as to why? Is this a faulty area that requires more than a stock configuration?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks again Howard for snagging me a Promar LN-704 from down south! :)

Mooch must have had to do a repair job on that one.(i've seen that color rope, somewhere on his stuff)
They come with that split-ring from the factory

My problem was the same as moochs' ~ broke at the exact spot.
I haven't contacted the rep. yet.

Thanks for that Adam. However my only concern is the ring keeping the net taught at the collapsible base.

I have the new style net and hope I won’t experience the same problem you and Mooch did.

You are correct, that ring is there to keep it taught. Mine is starting to rust(the ring) and that's probably why he had to replace it with that rope.  The *new ones are different/better(they addressed the problem)

Promar cheaped out.  They should have used a stainless steel split ring and screws to make whole thing saltwater resistant.  A small piece of rope is a good replacement for the split ring, but I simply used a plastic zip-tie.  I  was even going to replace the screws with stainless ones, but I couldn't remove them without stripping the heads.

Joey, Adam is correct, I replaced the ring with rope to avoid rust.

Thanks for the info fellas. I'll consider replacing the screws and cheap ring with rust resistant goodies.

Now I need the weather to break so I can put it to use.
