Drifted near Garberville yesterday with perfect conditions. The only fly in the ointment was the 6 boats ahead of us  :smt012. Still managed to hook and lose 5 fish. They hit every which way, side-drifting roe, roe on a diver, and two different colored plugs. Man, what a rush when they hit the plug!
I had some pics but they're not showing up :smt013.
I also want to report that the summer damm at Benbow is blocked by some logs, thereby not allowing passage to driftboats. I'm checking it out better, getting a good look, and hope that a yak can get through. If so, this would be primo because that whole run would be to yourself! I'll post what I find and hope someone can drift with me. I did that run before X-mas and it was very suitable for a yak.

As I type, the flows are still slowly dropping. The rain to come doesn't sound too bad, I think more weather like we had today is in store.
I'm going to drift in a boat tomorow and will try to get a look while I'm up there. I have to look with binocs from the Benbow Lodge/101 hwy. It's just a matter of having enough time aside from the day's drift to go take a look afterwards.

What day Bueller????
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
