The salmon bug is itching me pretty good, and I just heard through a source a Monterey Bay Salmon & Trout, that the returns of King Salmon on the big rivers were really poor this year.  Anyone have an idea how this will bode for '08?

Happy New Year everyone!

Actually talked to a CDFG Ocean Salmon Project employee and he said that jack numbers this year were low as well, which does not sound very good for next year.

Hi Amadeo,

We're going up Big River Mendocino on the 4th to do some non-invasive counting of spawning Coho, quietly from the banks.  Last month we saw only one female.  Sad.  I'll write a report when we get back.  I hope you sold lots of art over the Holidays. Happy New Year   -Matt

Well two posts and no good news, but knowing what I know about fishing, which is not much, next year might take us by surprise.  I have a feeling that Halibut will be good next year in north Monterey Bay, and Salmon who knows.  We could get a nice bit of current that pushes the fish in and keeps them around enough for a couple solid bites.  All I know is that I will be looking.

ps Thanks Matt, I sold a few prints and shirts.  Thanks to all NCKA for all the support.

One of my workmates lives in Redwood Valley and has the Russian River running through her backyard. She took these photo's Yesterday of, I believe, Coho Salmon.
