I invited a slew of guys, including Norcal's own Allen (PolePole). I wish you did come, Allen-it would have been a blast to do it together! I know for a fact that many other yak anglers would have done just as well as me-or better- it was just being at the right place at the right time.

I got a PM from Jon on Friday morning a little before 9 saying he had a 5 marlin day.  I thought to myself, "Damn, it's on, you got nothing going on the next 3 days, get your butt down there".  I immediately started looking up flights, but there was no way I could pull it off (flights to Cabo leave in the morning) and get there in time to fish Saturday morning.  If I had had 2 hours more notice I would have been there.

Allen, I got the email off to you as soon as possible- bummer it wasn't in time! The guy that I was with was like, why are you getting up so early, and I was like, I am gonna do whatever I can to invite some guys down here! Bummer we just missed you, I had the feeling that you were almost able to make it. We could have switched off. As it was I was really under the weather and could have used a break!

Hey you guys will get a kick out of this. Turns out my fish story isn't even the best one of the week! Some guy grabbed a swordfish in shallow water with his bare hands and then let it go. No kayak, no rod, no reel- bare hands!

...correction, the albie was caught at New Brighton State Beach (from shore with a surf rod) 

Believe it or not, there have been a few reports of swordfish in the shallows, some thought to be sick, but some of which were believed to be healthy.  I don't have the references off the top of my head, but I'm sure a few Google searches can lead you there.
