I've got a connection that works at the Military installation on the hill above the break and I'm tagging along with him onto the base to watch the insanity from the media-only area... Any other NCKA peeps with access to the base and/or a media pass?

I'll have my binos, a spotting scope & tripod, and Nikon D40 w/200mm lens so I hope to be able to get some fair pics, and I'll be sport'n the new-style black NCKA hoodie.

CH69 on da VHF...

The wife and I have always talked about going and it's finally on a weekend for the first time in a while.  Unfortunately it happens to be the weekend of the San Mateo ISE. :smt013  :smt009  :smt010   The weather will most likely determine where I go.  Raining and it will be ISE, Sun means Mavericks.

My only concern is that we've heard for the casual spectator, as we are, the view is minimal and sparse. :smt012

With the big surf, powerboats full of media idjits, jetskiis zooming all over the place, I can imagine a yak might get lost in the shuffle and run over.

...but if you do hit it, what color yak are you going to be in?  I can be your spotter from the cliff like the Nascar driver have.

BC, good point.  I'm looking into alternative viewing possibilities now.  Either way, I've gotta head over the hill to the nursery to get some rose trees.  Might not make it to a prime viewing location but I'll try to pick you up on VHF and see if you can see me amongst the rubble.

the view from the hill is BAD (binocs a MUST) and they won't let you get near it, you have to park at the HMB airport or in central HMB and get on a shuttle-bus.

ATT / pacbell / ?? park is opening up at 8:00am $25 to see it on the BIG Screen!
i'm contemplating that option right now!  it's supposed to be 28ft.SWELL and NO WIND to CHOP it UP!

i wonder if they'll be serving Hot Chocalate?

Did I really just admit this w/o putting in a qualifier about WAF?!   :smt011

Don't sweat it... Man-Rule 43-C specifies that all discussions having anything to do with flowers are WAF-related a priori.  You're safe (I hope)...
