Got to run down to the Avenue and play on the South Fork of the Eel a bit today.  It's not that high, but still heavily colored.  It'll be near perfect green tomorrow...  I took some casts at a favorite hole in the State Park and didn't see any fish activity.  I parked the yak and hiked up a beautiful creek - one of very few that has a nearly intact old growth watershed.  It's still a little early and we need a few more inches of rain, but this creek showed signs of having been raging in last weekend's storm.  It's still pumping nicely and just a tinge of green.  I spotted one large king very near a redd and a couple of very small jacks (presumably).  I carried the tripod over my head to look big in dusky late afternoon mountain lion country!   :smt006  I have another favorite creek over the mountain that will be flowing nicely like this one, so me and Collin may have to go check it out for spawners tomorrow.  I took alot more casts and had a beer as I crossed back over the river and wrapped up my day.  If fish were there they've moved into their spawning creeks or upriver toward them...  Great day.

"You could sell ads..."

Yes: Abking says..."when you can't catch a steelhead...catch a Steelhead!"
