Got as far as Dixon and saw what the wind was doing so I turned around. :smt013
Checked out the Port Of Sacto and it was pretty windy there as well. :smt013
Looking out my window from home it is as still as can be.
Might catch a nap and try for some macks locally.

Sorry to hear that Bro,

Nice attempt, it must have been discouraging to see that wind in sac.

Here in El Sobrante, it's really nice with light breaze, so makes me think the Bay is ok.

it is a Off shore breeze so it would be kicking inland first.

news last night called for breezy conditions and even if it's nice in places in the bay,

The Montezuma area has no protection and will be windy if there is wind.

Weather underground showed 17mpn wind @ 7 am!!!!  it's currently saying it's 13mph

Guess we will see if BackSlider made it a go and has a report..

 see ya soon ........... Danglin

Hey Tote,

Sorry about the abort... I got up at sixish and the iwindsurf report said twenty knots at Port Chicago... decided to head to Bodega with the fam instead.  NOAA called for ten to twenty out there... dead wrong again... it was more like two.  Just flippin beautiful!  Threw the surfboard in the water and caught a few waves while the wife and girls played in the sand.  Couldn't ask for a better day... uh, well, unless you're hooked up with a monster in the Montezuma Slough.  Oh well, there will be days ahead...

I caught about two hours worth of two-to-four footers at Doran.  It was picture perfect out there... and hardly anyone there.

That is exactly why I use the report as a guide, not a rule. I had to check it out for myself. There have been plenty of times when it called for windy conditions and it just didn't happen. Not so this time. Glad you made the best of it.

love doran, used to frequent that place when I lived down there. It has a zone where it can produce a really great glide for surf kayaking, and it can get big and nasty. Almost bought the big one there in storm conditions awhile back.  took me some time to get back in the water.

I hear that.  98% of the time Doran is as mellow as a newborn kitten, but brother, that other 2% is a killer.  Great longboard stuff, especially for newbs like me.  Haven't launched the kayak there yet, but see many that do... watched a guy flip coming in on a Cobra tandem... looked like he was having a blast... it also looked like he and his buddy spent a little time recovering some gear.  Man, those two footers can be brutal!

Glad to see no one got beat up @ Montezuma :smt001

 Love Doran :smt007...

I Lived in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa while the family was just starting, (wish we still did)

Just a great place to take the Fam with the best weather of the season to come...

We still make the trip quite often from the East Bay,

I was told that Doran always has a winter swell....

As far as Montezuma, I'm going to be making many trips there soon,

should start to get some idea on how the winds blow.......

Another time to think about heading out there is late afternoon/early evening,

If the wind lays down, it's a awesome time to be out there, and productive....... Danglin
