Hey Guys,
Wanted to let you all know that my son and I will be on the Lake on Thursday. The only thing is that, at this time we do not have Yaks. We will be in out in our little 12 foot alum. boat. We hope to have yaks soon, but just have to wait. BUT, with everybody doing good on the lake, we want to try and get out there, sence the lake level is sooo low. Wanted to know, where is the best place to launch? We can carry the boat and have a small (15 hp) motor, with an electric trolling motor. Hope to see and meet some of you on the lake. So if you see us, stop and say "HI" and if you get into any good fish, YELL!!!! :smt003

I can tell you the north end (off HWY20) is probably not the way you want to go.  It's very muddy.

Hopefully others in the know will speak up but I think you want to try the south end.

South ramp is a pretty good carry down a steep hill I'd guess 150yds.
The guys I saw with alums were struggling pretty good both ways. Some wheeled their trailers down the hill but couldn't wheel them back up with the boat on. No problemo with a kayak. I'd leave the 15 at home and just go with the elec.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

It's at least that distance on the north end, with a 5 foot "Death Zone" at the waters edge.

And that's all I've got to say about that.

I'd second that.  Haven't seen it in a couple months, but even then I don't think it warranted 15hp.  You could probably damn near skip a stone across it now.

I believe the Lake is closed to power boats, you may want to check with the rangers office.

I watched you guys drag your boat from the parking lot this morning. That did not look like fun. I hope you had good luck. A lot of people who launch their aluminum boats like that lift their trailer over the concrete wall and put their boat back on it, then just pull their boat trailer by hand to the water.

CHEERS!

Hey Guys,
Well we did have a hard time getting the boat down. And had "NO" luck. Not even a hit. Talked to some other guys with yaks, and they seen the schools on the finders, but once again, "NO" hits. When we got done for the day, we did take the trailer down and pulled the boat and trailer back up. :smt012 Hey, my son and I still had a good time. :smt004 Met an older gentelman that was having his depth finder installed that day, and has very high regards for "Sean" (Hope I spelled it right) He had his wife's Malibu X-Factor. I have to meet up with you and demo some of your yaks. In fact both my son and I have to call you some time. Well, hope to do another trip to Mendo and try again. I just heard that the Kokenee are biting at Indian Valley Res. Might go there with the little boat and see what happens. :smt006
