Traditionally, if the river isn't up and muddy people will drop pots and rings before midnight, hang out on the beach with a fire and brew or two, and start pulling at midnight of opening day.  The mouth/estuary area of the Eel (called "Crab Park") can get picked over pretty quickly, with new high tides bringing in new crabs if the conditions are right.  I have my 2 square sport "pots" and 3 rings ready.  That amount of gear stacks up nicely on the front seat of the tandem with a couple of bungies.  With the full moon I'll likely only need my flashlight for detail work.  I'll try to get some pics!   :smt003

If anyone is within reach and wants to join me I'll be at the west end of Cannibal Island Road getting prepped by around 10:30PM this evening.  If it's crappy the first pulls should show it - home by 12:45.  If it's hot it may mean a limit and home by 1-2...

Getting excited about it!   :smt007

...but of course, my good man.  That'll be on the house - the freak in the frozen kayak over there paid your tab.   :smt006
