spent time at linda mar from 1pm to 400 pm diving all depths from 20 ft to 50 feet and there were no dungeness crabs. spoke to a scuba diver who was looking for butts and he said he saw a tiny one. the visibility there was varied in different places. red layer up top, some haze and bottom was clear to about 20 feet. i checked some crab pots marked with bouys and they were empty. my own trap caught only rock crabs. they were released.

a note about the jellies there, lots of jellies there. when you go to pull your pot you will also catch jellies to the point that you wont be able to lift the pot up without cleaning the pot out first.

met malibu_two and he was with his brother pole spearing and we all saw some small ling cod and a lot of greenlings. i got one cabezon and saw rockfish as well. the vis in shallow on the soouth side was great. you could snorkel and look for fish form the surface.

i dove to the rock that sticks out before you exit the cove to the south. surge was strong towards the point.

i used to think it would be a spooky place to dive but after having dove there, it felt really comfortable even when i was dabbling out in 50 ft of water diving down looking for crabs. diving through the thick layers of big jellies was weird, when they bumped my leg it felt weird. reminded me of finding nemo.

the south side terrain is perfect for lings. its just a matter of timing when you'll have good vis , low surge and see them sitting out ready to prey. lots of greenlings and rock crabs for your picking, the perch are huge, rockfish around and great bottom terrain.

this was my first outing there and it was nice. water was warm and it was like a nice spring day. the sun was out, no wind whatsoever and decent vis. doesnt get better than this on a weekday while most people worked.

Sounds fun, but we need some visuals!  How's the underwater camera working?   :smt001
